Grade 1

Grade 1 is an exciting year at JTD as students move from the Kindergarten campus to the main campus and become a part of the larger JTD community.
Classrooms on the main campus are sectioned into two classes of 24-26 teachers with two co-teachers so that every child receives optimal support. Grade 1 students work to solidify their mastery of reading and writing in our balanced literacy curriculum and further their understanding of mathematical concepts through the Singapore math approach. Character development continues to play an important role in the curriculum as teachers nurture and encourage the students’ understanding and application of The 5C’s: Caring, Common Sense, Consideration, Cooperation, and Courtesy.
JTD Buddy Program
As the newest residents of the main campus, Grade 1 students are paired with a Grade 6 student as part of the JTD Buddy Program.
Our Buddy Program provides an opportunity to connect with older peers. Buddies often share recess or lunch together and partner together for projects and games throughout the year.
