At JTD, athletics is more than games and practices, it’s an extension of the classroom where students grow as athletes, teammates, and individuals. With two to three teams per grade, every child has the opportunity to participate, learn, and contribute, regardless of skill level. Each season runs about six weeks, blending school-day practices with the excitement of after-school competitions. Grade 6 teams may also qualify for postseason playoffs through the league, offering additional opportunities that build school spirit and pride.

More importantly, the program emphasizes values that last well beyond the playing field: sportsmanship, confidence, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.
Athletic Philosophy
The JTD Athletic Program emphasizes participation, sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, and the development of athletic skills.
This type of program enables our Greyhound athletes to experience friendly competition while preparing them for secondary school athletics. Students graduate from JTD with a varied range of sporting skills, an appreciation for the importance of good sportsmanship, and a love of being part of a team.

Instruction of fundamentals, strategies, and team practices work in conjunction with our PE program.
