    Build upon our rich tradition of academic excellence and character development


    Provide students with foundational skills while broadening students’ educational experiences to prepare them for the future

    • Ensure that high standards for academic excellence remain central to a JTD education
    • Fortify instructional practices and curricular programs to reflect the diversity of our students’ identities while fostering inclusion and belonging in the classroom
    • Integrate multidisciplinary practices of an effective learner and social-emotional competencies across all subjects and campus experiences

    Weave our Core Values into all we do at JTD
    • Ensure that students understand what each core value means and its connection to our community and world
    • Build cultural competencies through classroom practices and campus experiences that promote practicing and living The 5C’s

    Create an environment to optimize learning and honor the unique journey of childhood

    Recruit, cultivate, and retain exceptional educators


    Recruit and attract exceptional educators from a robust pool of high quality applicants

    • Devote resources to faculty recruiting to build and sustain a pipeline of diverse and talented teachers
    • Ensure a compensation system that yields competitive salary and benefits and positions JTD as a uniquely attractive employer

    Cultivate exceptional teaching through learning, development, and teacher recognition
    • Establish schoolwide principles of effective teaching practices and classroom culture that yield growth and progress for all learners
    • Align the evaluation process, coaching, and mentoring to support teacher growth
    • Develop opportunities for JTD educators to be leaders in their profession, sharing their expertise both internally and externally

    Retain educators through promoting and celebrating culture and collaboration
    • Promote the love of teaching and the joy of interacting with elementary school children
    • Strengthen cross-cultural understanding through professional development and community building activities
    • Enhance collaboration between co-teaching partners, grades, departments, and divisions

    Ensure all families at JTD feel connected, invested, and valued

    • Affirm the value of school traditions as shared experiences that bring us together while honoring the diverse perspectives of families
    • Increase financial assistance budget and percentage of students receiving assistance
    • Explore more opportunities for families to participate and engage in the life of the school

    Promote a culture of collaboration between JTD and our extended community
    • Expand admissions outreach so that we attract the most diverse, qualified applicants
    • Develop systems to exchange information with sec- ondary schools to build collective understanding of desired skills and competencies of a JTD graduate
    • Enhance engagement with JTD alumni and parents of alumni
    • Broaden our communications to convey the authentic JTD experience
