Celebrating Pride Month: Honoring Identity, Love, and Acceptance

By Sigita Newsom
June is Pride Month, a time to recognize the LGBTQ+ community and their many contributions and achievements. Throughout the month, people around the world come together to promote equality, kindness, and acceptance—no matter who someone is or who they love.
At our school, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Pride Month reminds us how important it is to create a community where every individual feels seen, valued, and a true sense of belonging.

It’s also a time to honor diversity and the many ways people express themselves, form families, and enrich our communities. By recognizing Pride, we help build a culture of inclusion, empathy, and love for all.

On Monday, students were invited to wear colorful accessories—like rainbow bracelets, pins, socks, or headbands—as a joyful way to show support for kindness, inclusion, and being proud of who you are. The rainbow is a symbol often associated with Pride because it represents the beauty of diversity and the many identities that make up our community.
