Halloween at JTD

By Malia Gregory
Few things are more fun than Halloween at JTD! The day is jam-packed with activities, games, and of course, CANDY. From sunrise, as the first Harry Potter arrives on campus, to sunset, when the last beleaguered teacher leaves, October 31 at JTD is a nonstop spooky-themed celebration. This year’s party was no exception.
The morning began with The Salutation of the Dawn, like all mornings at JTD. Only this time it was led by Wednesday Addams, with many skeletons, unicorns, Barbies, and even Queen Elizabeth II joining in. Salutation was followed by a schoolwide costume parade, where students and teachers alike showed off their creativity and Halloween spirit. The day continued with buddy relay races and a special Lunch on the Lawn catered by Nana’s Kitchen. Then it was off to John Dye Hall for cookie decorating, a tradition spanning decades. The final event of the day was the annual Sixth Grade vs. Faculty and Staff Volleyball Game, where the thundering cheers of students in the gym could be heard throughout campus.

An enthusiastic kindergarten student said it best. “Today was the best day of my life!”
