An Attitude of Gratitude

By Erika Forsyth, School Counselor
Even though Thanksgiving is over, it doesn’t mean we need to stop being thankful!  This holiday season may lead to a change in your normal traditions or travel plans, and consequently even more disappointments.  It’s Ok to feel the loss and validate your child’s sadness as a result (and possibly your own).  Then, it may feel good to return to the spirit that embodies Thanksgiving; a heart full of gratitude for the people in your life, the experiences you have had, and the blessings in your life.  Research shows that having an “attitude of gratitude” leads to an increased sense of resiliency, positive emotions, and even better sleep!
