Honoring Artist Alma Woodley Thomas
To kick off Black History Month at JTD, students were invited to learn about African-American artist and teacher Alma Woodsey Thomas.
During Morning Recess, students dropped into John Dye Hall where they were shown examples of artwork by Alma Woodley Thomas and invited to create their own art inspired by her work.
Both students and faculty alike enjoyed learning about Thomas and crafting by the fire in John Dye Hall, so much that the session was extended into a second recess session! Thank you to Community Programs Manager Sigita Newsom for setting up such a fun project!
