JTD Students Give Back

By Kate Merritt
Many alumni may recall collecting cans of food around Thanksgiving and bringing them to campus as part of the annual JTD food drive.
Students today still take part in this long standing tradition, bringing in dollars which are donated to One Voice, a local organization which helps families and students struggling against poverty, and cans of food which are donated to Big Sunday, an LA-based non-profit that organizes thousands of service projects each year.

The Week of Thanksgiving, the Parents' Association Service Learning Committee invited JTD students, parents, faculty, and staff, to join them in taking the cans of food to Big Sunday headquarters and joining with other members of the Los Angeles community in stuffing over 3000 bags full of delicious food for hungry people all over LA.

Members of the JTD community who attended had a wonderful time at this annual event, and even packed bags alongside special guest, Vice President Kamala Harris!
