The JTD Mentor Program
The Mentor Program is designed to foster belonging, connection, and community as new hires (mentees) learn about JTD's history, traditions, culture, and the many unique aspects of the independent school experience.
Each new hire is paired with a current employee to serve as their Mentor through the end of the school year.
The goal of the program is to facilitate a positive transition for new faculty and staff members with a professional and supportive mentor that provides ongoing structured support regarding school policies, procedures, and school culture. From faculty to staff, our employees volunteer their time and expertise to participate in the program as Mentors.
Mentees attend monthly workshops to learn more about JTD in our sessions called "Guac and Talk", and Mentors check in with their mentees often, reminding them of upcoming events and offering other support.
Today Mentors created hot cocoa kits for their Mentees during our Mentor Mingle. The warmth and coziness of the fireplace in John Dye Hall served as an idyllic setting as they created kits, wrote notes of appreciation to their mentees, and enjoyed a hot cocoa bar themselves!
We are grateful for this program and hope it continues to retain quality educators who not only support our School's mission statement, but find that JTD is a home away from home!
