Family Program Celebrates Sukkot
On Thursday, October 6, as part of our Family Program, students, faculty, and staff gathered together in our 21 families to learn about the Jewish holiday Sukkot, a joyful holiday celebrating the harvest season.
On the roof of the Michaud Academic Center, members of our faculty and staff constructed a sukkah, a temporary structure built to celebrate the holiday. In their families, students learned about the holiday before making paper chains, fruit, and flowers with their buddies. Our Grade 6 students then used the paper crafts to decorate our JTD community sukkah!
Over the following days, members of the community were invited to visit the sukkah during class or breaks to enjoy snack time, read a book about Sukkot, or simply enjoy spending time outdoors with one another.
