JTD Community Celebrates PRIDE Month!

By Kate Merritt
At Morning Assembly on June 1, students in Grade 6 shared the importance of PRIDE month and the why we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in the month of June. A few days later, we invited JTD students to honor our JTD LGBTQ+ families by adding rainbow accessories and rainbow colors to their school uniforms.
To continue exploring this topic at home, our Inclusivity and Diversity Team (IDT) recommends the following reads by age group:

Grades K-3: Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag by Rob Sanders
Grades 4-6: To Night Owl From Dogfish by Holly Goldberg Sloan & Meg Wolitzer
Grades 6 and up: Gracefully Grayson by Ami Polonsky

We hope the whole JTD community will join us this June in celebrating all identities and family structures that we have here at JTD and in our broader community.
